PRENATAL CLASSES Guess
What, Honey? The time before conception and the
first trimester are exceptionally important times in
your baby's development. This early prenatal class,
taught by McCook Clinic nursing staff, covers the
importance of good nutrition, avoidance of alcohol and
drugs, fetal development, warning signs of pre-term
labor and discomforts of pregnancy. The class is
intended for women in their first trimester or those who
are planning on conceiving. For more information or

Childbirth Education Classes These free classes
are intended for couples who are in the last trimester
of pregnancy to help prepare for the process of
childbirth. Taught by a Certified Childbirth Educator
this course covers the process of labor, pain relief
measures, breathing and relaxation techniques, and
medical procedures that could occur while you are in
labor. The four-session class will meet on Monday's,
6:30 - 9:30 p.m. and is offered six times a year. For more

Breastfeeding Class Taught by a registered
nurse, this class covers the basics of breastfeeding and
how to get your baby off to the healthiest start
possible. The class will be offered six times a year on

Big
Kids and Babies A special one-hour class that
presents information to older brothers and sisters about
new babies. They'll learn what it's like to have a brand
new sister or brother, and how big kids can be a big
help to mom and dad. For more information or

Baby Development Class
The Occupational Therapy Department at Community
Hospital is offering a free class to parents of babies
less than 5 months old. This class will be casual. You
will have a time to talk about and share your new
babies, eat, play with your babies and then talk about
how you can encourage development in your babies. We'll
talk about positioning, play, toys, feeding, and what
you can expect from your baby developmentally.
Classes are
offered once every 3 months: January, April, July and
October, the second Wednesday of those months. Classes
will be held in the Meeting Rooms at Community Hospital.
