Free childbirth education classes will be offered by Community Hospital beginning March 1, according to Joleen Bradley, Obstetrics Coordinator at Community Hospital. The four-week course, which is intended for couples in their last trimester of pregnancy, will be held on Monday evenings March 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the hospital meeting rooms.
“This class will help couples take a more active role in the delivery process,” Bradley said. The four-week course covers the process of labor, pain relief measures, breathing and relaxation techniques, and medical procedures that could occur while in labor.
A breastfeeding class/support group follows the completion of the childbirth education classes on Monday, March 29 from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
The childbirth education and breastfeeding classes are offered six times a year. Pre-registration is required by calling Community Hospital at 308-345-2650 to register. A minimum number of registrations is necessary to hold class.
