BryanLGH Medical Center announced in November the
formation of the BryanLGH Heart Institute, a new entity that is a joint venture
between the Medical Center and Midwest Cardiovascular Associates LLC. BryanLGH Heart Institute will offer a
complete range of cardiac services in Lincoln and throughout the region.
One of the cardiologists
associated with the new BryanLGH Heart Institute, Steven K. Krueger, M.D., will
see patients at Community Hospital every Tuesday.
Dr. Krueger attended the
University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed an internship and
residency at the Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto,
California. Dr. Krueger completed
fellowships in cardiology, electrophysiology and congestive heart failure at
the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.
He is board certified in cardiology.
He practiced internal medicine for seven years in Missouri before moving
to Lincoln seven years ago to begin practice as a cardiology. Dr. Krueger is the medical director of the
BryanLGH Hear Improvement Program, serving patients with congestive heart
failure. He was born in Kearney and
graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School.
The practice includes
cardiologists Dale Hansen, Chris Caudill, M.D., Steve Krueger, M.D., and Clyde
Meckel, M.D., who have practiced in Lincoln for many years, Scott Coatsworth,
M.D., and Robert (Robin) Hibbard, M.D., of Omaha and Andrew (Andy) Merliss,
M.D., of Fargo, N.D., and surgeons Bruce Jones, M.D., of Abilene, Texas,
Roxanne Newman, M.D. of Fargo, N.D., and long-time Lincoln physician Ed Raines,
M.D. Other physicians are being
recruited regionally and nationally.
Drs. Caudill, Hansen,
Krueger, Meckel and Raines have opened offices in Lincoln; the other physicians
will begin seeing patients after January 2, 2002.
“We share a common goal of
striving to provide high-quality care in a leading-edge clinical environment,”
notes Dr. Hansen, president of the Midwest Cardiovascular Associates. “Forming the new Institute ensures that the
level of cardiac services that people have come to expect from BryanLGH will be
available well into the future.”
BryanLGH Medical Center is
among only 20 hospitals to be named to the l00 Top Hospitals: Cardiovascular
Benchmarks for Success list for three consecutive years. This national recognition is based on
excellence in care, efficiency of operations and sustained cardiovascular
performance.
