55PLUS Educational Program: “Stroke Management”

55PLUS members and the public are invited to a free health program, “Update on the Management of Stroke” sponsored by Community Hospital, on Thursday, September 20 from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Community Hospital Meadowlark Conference Room. A continental breakfast will be provided.

 

Speaker is Pierre Fayad, M.D., Neurologist with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha. Dr. Fayad will discuss the entire spectrum of acute stroke treatment including risk factors, stroke prevention and treatments available for stroke patients.

 

Dr. Pierre Fayad is the Chairman of the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska and Director of the Nebraska Stroke Center. He received his medical doctorate degree from the University of Rome, Rome, Italy, and completed neurology training in the United States. Prior to moving to Nebraska, he spent ten years on the neurology faculty at Yale University School of Medicine. He was born and completed his high school education in Beirut, Lebanon.

 

Reservations are necessary by calling the 55PLUS Info Line at 308-344-8255. After the recording, be prepared to state your name, phone number and the number of people attending. By doing so, you are automatically registered. Registrations will be closed when seats are filled.

 

55PLUS is a community service program for everyone 55 years and up provided by Community Hospital of McCook in conjunction with BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln. It costs nothing to join and there are no fees or dues. The program offers a comprehensive package of health-related services designed to benefit members in accessing medical care and continuing their independence and good health. Some of the benefits include educational seminars, social functions, free guest meals while in the hospital, health newsletters, discounts from local businesses, and health newsletters. To become a member, call the Info Line at 308-344-8255 to request an application.  Non-members are welcome to register for and attend seminars, if 55PLUS applications are completed at that time.
