RELAY FOR LIFE

In a nation where more than one million people will be diagnosed with cancer this year, residents of southwest Nebraska are invited to celebrate life.

The Relay For Life is a fundraising event in which teams of participants take turns walking for 13 hours in an effort to fight cancer. The message of the event is cancer can be conquered. Relay for LifeThis theme of hope is ignited as the ceremony begins with a cancer survivors’ lap at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 5 at Norris Park. Survivors will walk the first lap unified in victory and hope.

The atmosphere of Relay For Life is one of camaraderie and celebration, providing an opportunity for cancer survivors to pass the torch of hope on to those still battling cancer or those that might be touched by cancer in the future. Teams camp-out, eat, play games and enjoy entertainment presented by local organizations, clubs and individuals.

You're invited to enjoy our Relay for Life movie  featuring some highlights from previous years Relay.

Luminaria
Luminarias are a white paper bag you may purchase in memory of a cancer victim, in honor of someone currently fighting the battle with cancer, or in honor of a cancer survivor. The Luminarias, with a candle in each, are placed around all the sidewalks at Norris Park.  At dusk, the luminaria candles are lit as the lap of silence begins, providing an amazing and inspirational sight.

A form is provided here for you to print and complete to purchase a Luminaria in honor of a loved one or contact any Relay team member or First Central Bank in McCook. The cost is just $10.00 for each Luminaria purchased.

Donations
Relay team members or Community Hospital, on behalf of the Relay, can accept your donation to the American Cancer Society.

Donations of food and prizes for Relay night are also greatly appreciated.

If you would like to participate or have any questions please contact any of our committee members:
